Upgrading Comfort and Working Conditions: AVT Installs New AHU At Its Andover HQ

When Air Vent Technology took ownership of its Andover offices, appropriate ventilation soon emerged as key to providing a comfortable and efficient working environment.

Challenge

As one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of ventilation equipment, Air Vent Technology has a responsibility to lead by example. And that started with our own Andover facility.

For several years before we took ownership of the site, its existing air handling unit had been defunct. When we arrived, that meant staff were left without a dedicated supply of tempered, filtered air. In the winter months, when temperatures outside fell sharply, it also meant employees seeking fresh air were forced to open windows and invite into the office potentially biting chills.

Installing a new unit that delivered both comfort and a consistent indoor environment became a key priority. Any solution had to fit within the existing plantroom space and integrate with the established ductwork layout. But our team was confident it could find the perfect solution.

Solution

As a first step, our in-house experts selected a suitable unit from our SPW/EC product range. This had the advantage of fitting seamlessly into the available space, while the EC motor offered lower running costs and quieter operation.

From there, our production and Site Engineering Services (SES) teams managed the entire process.

The old unit was dismantled in the confined plantroom. Extensive cleaning and preparatory work, including modifying the existing ductwork connections, ensured the space was ready. We then built the new AHU in-situ and commissioned it with a new control panel.

Results

Employees at our Andover base now enjoy year-round fresh, filtered air (and heating when required) within our upstairs offices. This provides improved comfort, a healthier indoor environment, and a healthier and more productive workforce.

And while this project was completed at our own HQ, it demonstrated perfectly the type of service we provide for our customers: efficient replacements of outdated equipment, energy-conscious solutions, and full support from our SES team throughout the entire process.
